Dairy Cattle Welfare Council sees new president
Elizabeth Cox, veterinarian and ruminant technical services manager with Merck Animal Health has been selected to be the president of the Dairy Cattle Welfare Council (DCWC).
The group was established in 2015 and aims to promote dairy cattle welfare, the company said. It works with dairy community stakeholders to design best practices for animal well-being, husbandry, animal-human interaction, management, health and productivity
Cox is set to serve a three-year term with the council.
She earned her veterinary degree from the University of California-Davis and has focused on thoracic ultrasonography of calves and microbiology diagnostics related to milk quality. She also is a past-president of the Academy of Dairy Veterinary Consultants and is a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners Animal Welfare Committee.
