To discuss that question and more, FeedNavigator is hosting a free to access webinar – Early Calf Nutrition – next Tuesday – 31 October at 4.30PM CET (Paris).

This is an exciting time for calf nutrition research – several companies have been exploring higher plane of nutrition strategies in the past few years in an attempt to improve the lifetime performance and resilience of calves.

Leading researchers say dairy farmers should increasingly be focused on boosting calf productivity as the rate of growth of young calves is correlated with future milk output.

Academics and industry are investigating the composition of calf milk replacer, particularly in relation to fat inclusion rate, along with determining the optimum daily feeding levels for calf productivity.

There is also growing interest in the use of products such as probiotics to support a reduction in antibiotic usage in dairy calf production.

Speaker line-up

Listen to Michael Steele from the University of Alberta, Mogens Vestergaard from Aarhus University and Walter Gerrits from Wageningen University and Research discuss the latest insights into dairy calf nutrition. They will talk about a variety of subjects such as the impact of an elevated level of feeding in the early stages of a calf's life, how to ensure colonization of good bacteria, alternatives to antibiotics, and the merits of early feeding of roughage.

The ruminant experts will also discuss ways to stimulate better solid feed intake in the calf along with protein efficiency.

Join in! There will be a chance for you, the listener, to put your questions to our speakers – the last 15 minutes of the live webinar are dedicated to a Q&A with the audience.

If you wish, you can also post questions for the speakers on the portal after registration, ahead of our live Q&A session.
