Algae may not be the only way to reclaim nutrients from wastewater. A research project in the Netherlands – Power to Protein – is working to develop a single cell protein that can be used in feed from sewage water.
Similarly, a research group from the University of Tübingen in Germany and Cornell University in the US are looking at ways to convert the waste stream from Greek yogurt production into feed additives.
