Following a global search, Bunge names acting-CEO to a permanent position.

Bunge announced the selection of Gregory Heckman as CEO on Thursday [April 26]. The appointment is set to take effect immediately.

“After a thorough, global search process, the board clearly recognized that Greg has the unique combination of expertise, vision and leadership to successfully lead Bunge,” said Kathleen Hyle, non-executive board chair. “His effectiveness over the past several months as acting CEO has solidified our view that Greg will drive continued progress for the business.”

Heckman has been serving as the company’s acting CEO since January, following the previous CEO Soren Schroder’s stepping down from the position.

Heckman joined the company’s board in October 2018 and has had more than 30 years working with agribusiness, food and food ingredients, the company said. Previously he served as CEO with the Gavilon Group and had senior executive positions with ConAgra Foods.
