US Grains Council is adding staff to support global outreach
The US Grains Council is looking to improve coverage of Asia and Southeast Asia and support grain sales in those regions with new appointments.
Tim Tierney has been made the new strategic director in Asia and the US Grains Council (USGC) also Caleb Wurth is the new assistant director.
The move is part of an effort to address near-term demand for feed grains and establish long-term demand for ethanol, said the Council. It is hoping to capture new markets for corn, sorghum, barley, distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and ethanol.
Tierney will be based in Singapore. Previously, he was a USGC director for Japan and for international operations, and prior to the Council work, he was employed by Syngenta and DuPont.
Wurth, who will be based in the Council's Southeast Asia regional office in Kuala Lumpur, has extensive industry experience; he worked with ADM, in the area of corn and co-products marketing, as well as in containerized grain logistics.
