Special Edition: Asian Feed Trends
Foreign focus on APAC
Several international companies are investing throughout the Asian Pacific region to address what they see as feed market needs.
The Danish feed tech company Skiold has started to provide equipment for swine producers in Myanmar. The move is an expansion of previous company efforts in China and Vietnam.
The feed additive company Amlan International has registered patents for products to support gut health in swine and poultry as part of the company’s focus on expansion in China.
At the same time, Alltech has been working to expand its footprint in Cambodia.
Other companies have been less focused on terrestrial animal production, however. Nutreco invested in a shrimp feeding start-up in April and Cargill is marketing a new, cloud-based shrimp production software in Southeast Asia and India.
Similarly, Kemin announced a new aquaculture-focused division at an industry event in Taiwan. The change is intended to provide more support for producers in India, China, Thailand and Vietnam and throughout the Southeast Asia region.
