ForFarmers says it has signed an agreement to sell its arable activities to CZAV, a Dutch cooperative with a strong position in arable products in the south of the Netherlands.

The feed producer said the move is in line with its in strategy to focus on its Total Feed approach for livestock farmers comprising products combined with specialist advice and tools aimed at delivering better returns, healthier livestock and greater efficiency on farm.

CZAV will take over the feed producer’s fertilizers, crop protection products and seeds along with the associated storage facility in February 2018, but the Dutch feed manufacturer said it would retain the forage related seeds, fertilizers and crop protection products, as they represent a key part of its Total Feed approach.

The arable activities generate annual revenues of €13m. ForFarmers said it would receive €5.65m on completion of the deal.

The activities will be placed in a new entity, called Agriant, located in Emmen. The 10 ForFarmers Netherlands employees directly affected will work for Agriant.
