There are a lot of changes in the line-up of the European Food Safety Authority’s FEEDAP panel for 2015 to 2018, but the EU risk assessor has also retained 10 previous members.

The Authority’s scientific committee and panels are renewed every three years, with current members either replaced or re-appointed.

Some of the experts staying on include Gabriele Aquilina, Vasileios Bampidis, Maria De Loudes Bastos, and Gerhard Flachowsky.

“We have attracted very highly qualified scientists from across Europe that will make a difference to Europe’s food safety system,” said Dr Tobin Robinson, Head of EFSA’s science strategy and coordination department. “Many of the new members come from universities and research institutes, meaning that there is a growing awareness of EFSA’s work in academic circles”.

The selection procedure, said EFSA, is based on proven scientific excellence and independence of the candidates.

The inaugural meetings of the experts’ three-year mandate will take place in July at EFSA’s premises in Parma. The FEEDAP panel will then discuss its future work programs and elect its chair and vice-chairs.

The Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) for 2015-2018 includes:
