Selected Ukrainian companies can start exporting sunflower meals and sugar beet pulp to China, according to a statement on the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, published yesterday.

The agency said China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has approved seven Ukrainian producers for sunflower meals deliveries and two for sugar beet pulp supplies.

Sunflower meals and sugar beet pulp are used in cattle and poultry feed.

The sanitary and phytosanitary protocol requirements for oilseed meals and sugar beet pulp exports were agreed and signed by Ukrainian and Chinese officials in September, during a conference in Shanghai.

Earlier this year, China opened its market to beef imports from Ukraine and increased the list of certified Ukrainian dairy suppliers.

Ukraine is said to be also awaiting approval from China on eggs, poultry, honey products and berries exports.
