Innovad is acquiring all the shares of Herbonis, a Switzerland-based company and its affiliates, including Wyreside in the UK.

Herbonis is a company specializing in plant-based bioactive molecules. It is active in the niche vitamin D3 market with its product Panbonis, a plant-based source of the metabolic active form of Vitamin D with proven health benefits in poultry, swine, and dairy, noted Innovad.

From its inception, that Antwerp, Belgium headquartered company has been formulating its products with plant-based ingredients and it maintains that the acquisition of Herbonis will strengthen its position — adding capacity and knowledge to support the growth of its botanicals, and nutraceuticals product portfolio.

Ben Letor, Innovad CEO, commenting on the deal, said: “Herbonis has an impressive record, dedicated team, independent mindset, and outstanding know-how on botanicals.”

Plant-based alternatives are a mega-trend in animal nutrition, said Letor, stressing how they need to be well-researched, well-documented, cost-effective, and have a low carbon footprint.

The Swiss firm’s scientific and plant-based proposition aligns with Innovad’s goal of becoming a center of excellence and knowledge in phytogenic and plant-based products, he continued.

Expanded customer base

Raetus Boehlen, Herbonis of CEO, said that being able to include Panbonis as part of Innovad’s broader product portfolio will allow the the company to leverage a broader customer base.

Innovad services integrators, producers, nutritionists, veterinarians, feed companies with a range of on farm water soluble and in-feed solutions.
