IGC forecasts 7% jump in global soybean output

World soybean production for 2023-2024 is forecast to expand by 7% year on year (y/y) to a record of 395 million tons, chiefly linked to bigger crops in South America, notes the latest update from the International Grains Council (IGC).

Bunge reveals value of CJ Selecta acquisition

Bunge disclosed the value of the CJ Selecta deal during its call with analysts following the company’s Q3 2023 earnings release last week. It is paying out around US$600m to acquire the Brazilian manufacturer and exporter of soy protein concentrate (SPC).

Brazil expected to export record level of soybeans

A USDA attaché report for Brazil has increased the 2022/23 forecast for the country’s soybean production to 153 million metric tons (MMT). It also revises upwards its soybean export estimate to 97MMT, a new record.

Greenpeace blocks soy cargo ship at Dutch port for 18 hours

Greenpeace Netherlands said that, during a period of 18 hours, over 60 activists from all over Europe, volunteering with the NGO, were able to block a mega-ship arriving in the Netherlands with 60 million kilos of soy from Brazil.
