German feed fats supplier establishes Latin American division, BioMar creates Asian business unit
CREMER OLEO, a subsidiary of the globally active CREMER group based in Hamburg, is expanding its presence in South America. Its product range includes plant-based raw materials for cosmetics, food and animal feed, pharmaceuticals, fuels, and technical applications.
It is setting up its Latin American headquarters in the Colombian capital Bogotá; from there it will coordinate production, trading, and logistics activities for that region.
Roberto Echeverría, the new managing director of CREMER Oleo Latin America, said having a business unit in Bogotá would expand the CREMER Group's Latin American sourcing coverage for key raw materials and ingredients used in feed production. “With regard to the Colombian market, one of the tasks of the team will be to explore opportunities down the feed value chain and to develop products and services with added value for the local feed industry,” he told FeedNavigator.
The Latin American business will also support CREMER's global product development work, he added.
Echeverría, a native of Colombia, has worked for CREMER since 2014 and most recently headed the group’s glycerin division.
CREMER FEED, a brand of CREMER OLEO, has been supplying the German and international compound feed industry with feed fat blends for many years. All the raw material components for those ingredients are plant based, derived from rapeseed, soybean, sunflower or palm oil, and an essential source of energy for farmed animals.
CREMER OLEO has a global network of branches to purchase raw materials regionally, with the supplier stressing that, in order to ensure the highest quality standards, it draws on that global network of branches to thoroughly analyze the raw materials in the country of origin, to enable full traceability.
BioMar announces new Asian business unit
Danish fish feed group, BioMar, announced today that is has established a fourth division, a business unit to embrace all its activities in the Asian region, including Vietnam and China.
Following the setting up of its new partnership with Viet-Uc in Vietnam, BioMar instigated changes in its executive management team, announcing a VP for Asia. "This role will set the strategic direction for the region and support the integration and further development of the business unit."
Francois Loubere, who has over 30 years’ experience in aquaculture, will take on the role of VP Asia for BioMar.
“The new division for Asia is a milestone on our growth journey. We will, going forward, have a dedicated focus on the region in our executive management. We expect this change to accelerate our development of the business units and enable a broader commercial focus in the region,” said Carlos Diaz, CEO.
The company said that Loubere has been a key to the building up the BioMar business unit in West Med & Africa as well as contributing to several strategic business development projects. He will also the group’s executive committee. Luis García Romero, who has been working for the Danish producer for the past two years, will now become MD for BioMar West Med and Africa.
